Customer story
Direct bookings up 2.9x for a Kochi Ayurveda resort, including international guests.
A Kochi Ayurveda resort paid OTA commission on nearly every stay, domestic and international. Webzenia built treatment, package and destination content with hreflang for the travellers researching a wellness break before they book, moving reservations onto the resort's own channel.

The challenge
A Kochi Ayurveda resort on the backwaters treated genuine health conditions under qualified physicians, but almost every guest arrived through an OTA that took its cut on a package worth several nights' stay. The longer the package, the more commission the resort handed over on a single booking.
International guests researching a wellness stay wanted to know which conditions the resort treated, who supervised the treatment, and what a typical day looked like before they committed two or three weeks. The resort's own site barely answered any of it, so travellers comparing options online never found a reason to book direct. Every OTA booking on a high-value package was margin the resort could not recover.
The approach
Query research came first. Semrush and Google Search Console data separated the treatment-specific searches a wellness traveller runs, a named Ayurveda therapy or condition, from the destination searches for Kochi and Kerala's backwaters.
The team built treatment pages explaining what each therapy addressed and who supervised it, package pages laying out inclusions and duration, and destination content for travellers still deciding on Kerala over other wellness regions. Each page answered the questions a guest would otherwise only get from a phone call.
Because a meaningful share of guests booked from overseas, hreflang routed European and Gulf travellers to the version of the site built for their market, instead of a single English page competing for every region at once.
Google Business Profile was rebuilt with treatment categories and guest photos, technical SEO fixed mobile page speed, since most wellness research happens on a phone during idle moments rather than at a desktop, and the booking engine was instrumented so every direct reservation could be traced back to the page that produced it.
The results
Direct bookings from organic grew 2.9x over eight months, including a rising share of international guests who once booked exclusively through an OTA. The resort's own site became the place travellers landed while still deciding on a treatment.
More than 30 wellness terms reached the top three results, from named therapies to Kerala destination searches. Guests arrived already understanding the treatment they wanted, shortening the conversation before a booking.
Cost per booking fell 50%, since a direct reservation on a multi-night package carries no OTA commission. On packages this size, that saving compounds fast across a season.
