Customer story

Organic sign-ups up 4.1x for a Bangalore developer-tools startup, from docs and tutorials.

A Bangalore developer-tools startup was invisible for the integration and how-to searches its developer audience actually runs. Webzenia rebuilt its docs and tutorial content as a ranking, self-serve sign-up surface rather than a passive reference.

The challenge

A Bangalore developer-tools startup had built solid documentation, but it existed purely as a reference: something a developer read after they had already signed up, not something that helped anyone find the product in the first place. The docs were not structured, titled or written to rank.

Developers researching an integration typically start with a search, not a homepage visit, hunting for the exact how-to or error-message match. Every time that search led to a competitor's docs instead, the startup lost a developer before they ever saw the product, and each of those sign-ups had to be won through paid ads or outbound instead.

The approach

Webzenia audited the existing documentation and tutorial set against the integration and how-to searches developers actually run, using Ahrefs and Google Search Console to find the gaps between what existed and what ranked.

The team rebuilt docs and tutorial pages as standalone ranking assets: clear titles matching real search queries, code samples that answered the question in the first screen, and internal links connecting related integrations so a developer landing on one page could self-serve to the next.

Screaming Frog crawls caught indexation and duplicate-content issues across the docs subdomain that had been splitting ranking signal between near-identical pages, and PageSpeed Insights work kept the heavier code-sample pages fast enough to hold a developer's attention.

Sign-up flows were instrumented in GA4 so the team could see which docs pages converted a reader into a self-serve sign-up, not just which pages ranked.

The results

Organic sign-ups grew 4.1x over 7 months. Developers who previously found the product through outbound or paid channels now arrived through a search for the exact problem they were solving.

180+ developer terms now rank. The rebuilt docs and tutorial pages cover the breadth of integration and how-to searches developers run, so the startup shows up across the long tail, not just for its own product name.

64% of sign-ups are now self-serve. Developers who land on a docs page that answers their question convert without ever talking to sales, cutting the cost of every new sign-up.
