The challenge

A Bangalore direct-from-farm grocery brand was processing every order through a WhatsApp group and a basic website. Orders arrived as chat messages, were tallied by hand, and slotted into delivery by guesswork.

That method capped the business at whatever a person could read and reconcile in a day. There was no way to book a delivery slot, no way to set up a recurring basket, and no record a customer could rely on. The brand was leaving repeat revenue on the table.

Customers were asking for the two things WhatsApp could not give them, a chosen delivery slot and a subscription for staples they bought every week. The brand needed an app that turned a chat queue into an actual ordering system.

The approach

Webzenia built a grocery app on React Native for Android and iOS, with delivery-slot booking and subscriptions as the headline features the WhatsApp process could never support. The app replaced the chat queue with a structured order flow.

Slot booking let customers pick a delivery window at checkout, which gave the operations team a predictable schedule instead of a pile of messages to sort each morning. Subscription baskets let buyers set a recurring weekly order for staples, converting a manual reminder into automatic repeat revenue.

Checkout ran on Razorpay with UPI as the default, matched to how Bangalore shoppers pay for everyday goods. The interface was designed in Figma to make a weekly grocery order fast, with reorder and basket flows kept to a few taps.

We shipped through the Play Console and App Store Connect on a Firebase backend, watched the first releases with Sentry, and launched within 60 days.

The results

The app went from zero to 1,840 orders a month within 60 days of launch. A structured order flow replaced a WhatsApp group that could never have scaled to that volume.

Average order value reached Rs. 1,240 on the app, against Rs. 890 on the old website. Slot booking and curated baskets nudged larger carts.

38% of customers took up a subscription basket. Recurring weekly orders gave the brand predictable demand to plan farm sourcing and delivery routes around.
