Customer story

An online pharmacy hits 41,000 downloads with Webzenia.

A Hyderabad online pharmacy was losing mobile orders to aggregators because its own site made customers re-enter a prescription every time. Webzenia built a native app with saved history and refill reminders.

The challenge

A Hyderabad online pharmacy was steadily losing mobile conversions to larger aggregators. On the brand's own mobile web, every order meant re-entering a prescription from scratch, with no saved history and no refill reminders.

For someone managing a chronic condition, that friction repeated monthly. The aggregators remembered the prescription and prompted the refill. The independent pharmacy did not, so loyal buyers drifted to whoever made the next order easier.

Mobile web order completion sat at 51%, with roughly half the carts abandoned mid-flow. The brand needed an app that held a customer's history and brought them back when a refill was due.

The approach

Webzenia built a native pharmacy app for Android and iOS, with prescription history and refills as the centre of the product rather than a bolt-on. A customer uploads a prescription once, and it stays in the account for reorders.

The refill engine ran on scheduled reminders. Based on the last order and dosage, the app prompted a refill before the customer ran out, turning a forgotten reorder into a one-tap repeat. Push notifications through Firebase handled the nudge without a call centre behind it.

The checkout was rebuilt around Razorpay and UPI so paying took seconds, and the flow was designed in Figma to be legible for older buyers managing ongoing medication. Type was kept large and the reorder path kept short.

We shipped through the Play Console and App Store Connect, watched the first releases with Sentry on common low-cost Android handsets, and tuned the upload flow against real camera quality in the field.

The results

App order completion reached 78%, against the 51% the pharmacy's mobile web managed. Saved prescriptions removed the step that had been losing half the carts.

The app went from a standing start to 41,000 downloads in three months. Existing customers moved across as soon as reordering stopped meaning re-uploading a prescription.

29% of all orders came from refill reminders. That recurring base is exactly what the aggregators had been taking, and it now flows back to the brand each month.
