The challenge

A Bangalore D2C nutrition brand was earning 90% of its revenue through Shopify with no mobile app to its name. That gap mattered, because 78% of its traffic was already arriving on mobile.

The mobile web store converted at 2.1%, a number that pointed at the experience rather than the demand. Repeat buyers had to re-find the site, log in, and rebuild a cart every month for a product they took daily. There was no subscription option and no reason to keep the brand one tap away.

The team wanted an app that matched how its customers actually shopped, with a recurring-order flow the website could not offer.

The approach

Webzenia built a React Native app sitting on the brand's existing Shopify catalogue and order system, so inventory, pricing, and fulfilment stayed in one place. Nothing was forked off into a second source of truth.

The app added two things the website never had. A subscription flow let customers set a monthly recurring basket for products they reorder on a fixed cycle, and a loyalty layer rewarded repeat purchases with points that compounded. Checkout ran on Razorpay with UPI front and centre for a quick one-tap pay.

The interface was designed in Figma around the daily-supplement buyer, with a home screen built to reorder in seconds rather than browse. Push notifications through Firebase handled reorder nudges and loyalty milestones without a paid ad behind them.

We shipped to both the Play Store and the App Store, monitored every build with Sentry, and tuned the first releases against real Android devices in the 12,000 to 18,000 rupee range that most of the audience carries.

The results

The app converts at 6.8%, more than triple the 2.1% the mobile web store managed for the same brand. A checkout built for thumbs and a catalogue that remembered each customer did the work.

It reached 28,400 downloads in four months with no paid user acquisition behind it. Growth came entirely from existing customers and organic store listings.

34% of app users chose a subscription, a product the website never had. A one-time purchase became predictable monthly revenue the brand could plan around.
