The headshot standard
A crop template, an eye line and a background specification, applied identically to everyone and recorded so it can be applied again
a row that survives being extended

A team page here is read as evidence by somebody checking the company exists, and a third of the faces change within two years. Webzenia writes the standard the next joiner matches.

A shoot is a day, and what survives it is three things, only one of which is the photographs. The other two are why the row still matches next year.
Framing, background, light and grade, written down rather than held in a photographer’s eye. It is what lets somebody photographed in month seven match a row shot in month one, including by a different photographer.
A commercial shoot here is a permitted activity, and private premises need the property owner’s agreement on top. The paperwork sets the date, not the diary, which is the part a booking form never mentions.
Culled, retouched and graded to one look, then delivered as one object with the crops each surface needs. A folder of frames is raw material, and handing it over is handing over the unfinished half.
What we photograph
Six kinds of set, all shot to one written specification. Which you need is decided by who reads the images, not by hours on site.
A crop template, an eye line and a background specification, applied identically to everyone and recorded so it can be applied again
a row that survives being extended
Portraits made for a filing, a bid document and a press request at once, so the same sitting serves all three rather than being redone for each
one sitting, several uses
The premises photographed as evidence a real operation exists, which is what a reviewer is looking for rather than atmosphere
a place, shown working
A gallery delivered the same evening, because the value of an event photograph halves every day it waits
usable images while the event is still current
Each frame delivered in the crops the site, a deck and a profile each need, so nobody is re-cropping a photograph in a browser at half past four
one frame, three ratios
A call sheet covering leadership, the team, the floor and the operation in one booked day, because access is the expensive part rather than the shutter
a year of images in a day
How the faces get made
A Business Bay brokerage on a DET mainland licence with thirty people has usually done the first two, in that order, before the third is proposed.
| Stock, or what people sentAssembled rather than made | A one-off sessionBooked by the hour or the head | A maintained standardWritten down, then reapplied | |
|---|---|---|---|
| On the day | Nothing happens, which is the appeal. | Good photographs, taken well, delivered quickly. | The same, plus a written specification of how they were made. |
| Six months later | Eleven different companies on one page. | Still good, and now missing four people. | Still one row, because the four were shot to the same sheet. |
| When someone joins | They send a photograph from a wedding. | A minimum booking, for one person, months later. | A top-up against the standard, priced as a recurrence. |
| Who cleared access | Nobody, because nobody went anywhere. | You did, usually the week of, usually in a hurry. | We did, before the date was confirmed with anyone. |
| Where it can be used | Wherever the licence allows, which is rarely paid media. | Whatever the booking said, and it is worth rereading. | Anywhere, with the rights transferred and no per-use fee. |
For a company of five with a settled team, a one-off session is the correct purchase and we will say so rather than sell a standard you will not need. It stops being right when two things are true at once: the row is long enough that a mismatch shows, and people join faster than you would commission a photographer. That is a maintenance problem, not a photography one. What a company shows to read as established is branding in Dubai; the treatment applied to every frame is brand identity design.
The UAE context
Webzenia has worked with Gulf clients since 2018. Four things shape a shoot here, and the first two happen before a camera is booked.
It is applied for through a licensed production company and it runs in working days rather than instantly, so a date agreed before the paperwork starts is a date that moves. We scope the access in the first conversation, which is the point at which most quotes for this work say nothing at all.
In a free-zone tower that owner is building management rather than your landlord, and they have their own process and their own week. A DIFC-registered fund photographing its own floor is asking a third party for permission, which surprises people the first time.
Contracts and visas mean a third of the faces can change inside two years, so a set shot once is out of date before the brand it was made for is. The useful question is not how good the photographs are but whether the next one can be made to match them.
An ADGM fintech in Abu Dhabi whose founders sit in a vendor-registration pack gets the same standard and the same team, on a day that accounts for the drive. A supplier claiming an office in every emirate is easier to check than they think.
What the engagement covers
Six parts, and the first is paperwork rather than art direction. The last makes the second shoot match the first.
We establish who has to be photographed, where, and who has to approve it: the permit, the property owner’s NOC and, in a tower, building management. That happens before a date is offered.
Framing, background, eye line, light and grade are settled and recorded as a specification rather than agreed verbally on the morning, because a verbal agreement cannot be reapplied.
Run to a call sheet with a fixed set-up and a timed changeover, so the fortieth person is photographed under the same light as the first rather than under a tired one.
Every frame reviewed and the set narrowed against the specification rather than against taste, so the selection can be defended and, more usefully, repeated next time.
Consistent handling across the whole row, so nobody has been retouched more than anybody else, and the grade matches the treatment the brand already uses elsewhere.
The set arrives in the crops each surface needs, and the written standard arrives with it, so a later top-up can be matched without anybody guessing what was done.
Our stack
The kit behind a set that can be extended rather than replaced. Select one to see why it earns its place, and what we do with it that most do not.
Shooting tethered puts the frame on a full-size screen while the subject is still standing there. Everything about a headshot standard that can go wrong is visible at that size and invisible on the back of a camera.
We shoot against the previous set on screen, so the person in front of us is being matched to the row rather than photographed well in isolation. Discovering a mismatch at the edit means booking the person again.
How the work runs
The order is set by the paperwork, the only part nobody can compress. Everything creative happens inside a window it decides.
We establish what has to be cleared and start it: the shoot permit, the property owner’s no-objection certificate, and building management where the premises sit in a tower. In parallel we settle the standard, so the day is a production rather than a discovery. A date is only confirmed once the access is answered.
The set-up is built once and not adjusted between people, which is the only way a row matches. We shoot tethered against the existing set where one exists, so a mismatch is corrected while the person is still in the building rather than discovered a week later.
The set is culled against the specification, retouched to one level and graded to the treatment the brand already uses. What arrives is the images in the crops each surface needs, plus the written standard and the develop settings, so the next joiner is a top-up rather than a new commission.
No date is confirmed until the access is answered, and the standard is handed over with the set.
Our commitment
Photography here fails at the access, at the joiner, and at the moment somebody asks whether an image can run as an ad.
Access cleared before any date
We start the permit and identify who has to sign the no-objection certificate before anyone books a room or a person. A date agreed on a diary rather than on the paperwork is a date that moves twice.
You receive a written standard
Framing, background, light, lens and grade arrive as a document with the images, so a later top-up can be matched by us or by somebody else. A standard that lives in a photographer’s head is a retainer, not a deliverable.
Nothing is delivered ungraded
You receive a finished set rather than a folder of frames with a promise attached. Raw material handed over at the end of a shoot day is the unfinished half of the job, however many frames are in it.
No extra fee for reuse
The images run on the site, in a bid document, in a deck and in paid media without coming back for permission. Where a photograph shows a named person we get their release at the shoot, so the licence is clean before you need it.
